Overworld Dev, week 29/52, 2021

We released Play Store achievements and leaderboards. They are slow to update so I panicked at first thinking they were broken.

We retained a guy called Miky on fiverr to create an intro video for Overworld. Being highly procedural in nature, there isn’t a big “story” feel or continual thread, until you unlock silver medal for heroes and read their bio. The intro video should frame and underscore the only story we have, that of trying to get past the gatekeeper to the Underworld. The Underworld doesn’t exist yet, but there are plans. It will mimic retrieval of the famed amulet (or gubbin) per usual, with a few implementation twists the medium affords us.

Spent the rest of the week working on a world map. This is the most requested feature. I was reflecting with a new player on how we achieved a game where it’s not required, but I’m starting to see how much it adds. Screens to follow next week, it might even make the build.
