High scores
Every game ends with a score. The best ones go on the score boards for all to see, with a replay anyone can watch.
The score sits in the status bar during play. It changes from green to blue to red as you near a high score.
The score boards
The boards are under High scores on the welcome screen, and the game sometimes shows them on its own while you wait there. In the game's own words:
Celebrate top games on the score boards!
Winners are chosen for challenge and diversity. Player can appear once per board. Scores last one month and reset each new version.
Next and back buttons show different score boards. Up and down stairs change the page.
The hero icon beside the stairs toggles filter by hero type. Hit the glasses to watch a replay!
| Board | What counts |
|---|---|
| High scores | The most points |
| Iron man | The most points in a game that was never rewound |
| Best times | The fastest win by the clock |
| Least moves | The fewest actions to win |
| Local scores | Your own best games on this device. Kept even when you are not logged in |
Each board has five entries per page. The hero icon beside the stairs switches between everyone and the hero you have picked, so every hero has boards of their own. Names in rainbow letters belong to players who have unlocked every hero or every achievement. The glasses (shades for a win) beside an entry play the game back move by move.
Only games played while logged in go on the shared boards. On phones the platform leaderboards (Best times, Top scores, Least moves and Best times on easy) are fed from the same games.
How points are counted
From the last pages of the score boards:
Points = actions / 5 +tiles explored x2 +kills x5 +unique kills x10 +tames x10 +unique tames x20 +items eaten x10 +quests complete x50 +300 for winning -100 Guan Yin teleport
Cumulative bonuses:
-25% easy 10% hard 25% expert 50% elite
So a long game that explores widely and deals with many different beasts scores higher than a quick dash to the gate, and winning is worth a few hundred points on its own. The one deduction is accepting a ride home from Guan Yin, who turns up once the gatekeeper's quests are done and you are far from the gate. The difficulty bonus is applied to the whole total at the end: a game on elite is worth half as much again as the same game on normal and a game on easy a quarter less.
Rewinding does not cost points but it does keep the game off the Iron man board.
