Tips
Things the game does not spell out. Most come from the strategy notes on the creature and item pages.
General
- Press and hold anything for help.
- Rest by tapping yourself. Resting raises the level meter a lot so do not rest more than you must.
- Make every move count. The level meter never comes down.
- Eating cures poison. So does drinking. Water cures confusion and blindness and hallucination.
- Enter a building to break contact with enemies. They still know where you are.
- Drop your weapon before dealing with thieves. Coins distract them.
Combat
- Fight from a hill. Enemies have to struggle up to reach you.
- Fight in a forest for extra Shields.
- Lure beasts that overheat into the desert and let the sun do the work.
- Frozen creatures in water die instantly.
- A tame beast you ride absorbs every hit meant for you.
- Tiny beasts can be swatted with the right tool. Tiny heroes can be swatted and trampled so run from big things.
Items
- Chests always contain a weapon if you need one.
- Scrolls die in water. Ride a steed or stay dry.
- Armor is heavy. Heat and drowning and struggling all get worse. Take it off before swimming.
- Rabbits drop meat with a bone weapon inside.
- Butterflies caught in a net are free money.
Shops
- Shops trade for shells and gems as well as coins.
- Talk to the shopkeeper after buying to restock. It only works a few times.
- The inn's bed pauses the level meter and heals your steed.
- A ring gets you past the librarian.
Caves
- All caves contain coins.
- The level meter rises slowly underground. Explore while it is cheap.
- Cave water drowns you. Watch the bubbles.
- Stuck in a dead end? Use escape from the action menu.
- Quests do not start underground. Come up for air.
